For someone who is a president of the United States of America, Donald Trump surely seems to have an at times tenuous grasp of reality. What makes the situation with the president’s incessant nonsense-spewing worse is that he doesn’t seem particularly concerned with ever achieving a better relationship with the truth than he has at present.
He continued on with his tradition of spewing nonsense when it suits him in an early Tuesday tweet. He wrote:
‘Check out the fact that you can’t get a job at ratings challenged
@CNN unless you state that you are totally anti-Trump? Little Jeff Zuker, whose job is in jeopardy, is not having much fun lately. They should clean up and strengthen CNN and get back to honest reporting!’
Considering past reporting about how information gets to the president — and also considering his exact phrasing here — he may have gotten the nonsense he’s spewing here from either an in-person confidante or a far right “news source” like InfoWars.
It pretty much goes without saying that his indication that you have to profess anti-Trump bias to work at CNN is false. In fact, the network has at times come under criticism from left wing interests for giving supposedly too much airtime to pro-Trump views in the interest of showing both sides to the story.
The CNN Communications team responded to the president, writing:
‘Once again, false. The personal political beliefs of CNN’s employees are of no interest to us. Their pursuit of the truth is our only concern. Also, Jeff’s last name is spelled Z-U-C-K-E-R. Those are the facts.’
