The president managed to make the entire world shake its head yet again this Tuesday evening, taking to Twitter with incendiary comments about the ongoing threat from North Korea’s nuclear arsenal.
As if we are really living in some sort of science fiction novel about the future, Trump wrote:
‘North Korean leader Kim Jong Un just stated that the “Nuclear Button is on his desk at all times.” Will someone from his depleted and food starved regime please inform him that I too have a Nuclear Button, but it is a much bigger & more powerful one than his, and my Button works!’
This tweet is the exact sort of provocation that the North Koreans thrive off of, casting words like those Trump offered on Twitter this Tuesday as a justification for them to continue increasing their attack capabilities.
And yet here we have the president taking to Twitter to taunt the North Korean leader anyway. One wonders if any one in the president’s inner circle knew about this tweet before he posted it or if they were blindsided like the rest of us. Trump came into office with no real experience with any significant foreign policy issue, and it’s showing. The nonsense in his Tuesday tweet speaks for itself.
The absurdity has reached such an extreme when it comes to the president of the United States that it feels as though some cartoonist’s characterization of the relationship of Trump and Kim Jong Un as consisting of comparing lengths of a certain organ has proven true to reality.
