Donald Trump has long been one to be fond of grandiose rhetorical proclamations, having built much of his campaign by hyping people up about the prospect of making America “great again.”
Trump, of course, has also long been one to take to Twitter on basically every occasion imaginable. This week, he took to the social media platform to suggest an update to one of his campaign slogans.
Whereas Trump paraded into Washington promising to “drain the swamp,” he now says that something different is needed.
‘Drain the Swamp should be changed to Drain the Sewer – it’s actually much worse than anyone ever thought, and it begins with the Fake News!’
That’s right; yet again, Trump is insisting that key to his vision for America is cutting back on “fake news.” Trump has long made it abundantly clear that he views most, if not all, major media outlets as “fake.”
In short, key to Trump’s vision of America is the drastic rollback of protections for free speech. And concurrent to that, he’s come up with a new dumb slogan — “Drain the Sewer” — that we will no doubt see again on his Twitter feed.
