White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer announced his sudden resignation late last week, and there is already talk of who is next out of the Trump Administration. Well, MSNBC’s Joy Reid has an answer to that question, writing on Twitter this week that a GOP source tells her, quite simply, that Attorney General Jeff Sessions is next.
Reid wrote on Twitter this Friday:
‘GOP source just now: “fact is right now Sessions is daring Trump to fire him.” Sessions… spent decades… dreaming of the day his agenda: slashing nonwhite immigration, re-escalating the war on drugs (including marijuana) would be enacted. White House needs Sessions to quit. Firing him could be the rare thing that hurts Trump with deep south R voters.’
Spicer had long been at odds with the president prior to his firing, sparring with him on the occasion of a number of communications and public image mishaps over the course of his six months in office.
Trump recently took aim at Sessions in a New York Times interview, saying that he’d have picked someone else for the job of Attorney General if he knew Sessions would eventually recuse himself from the Russia investigation.
Only time will tell if Sessions really is next after Spicer to announce he is leaving the Trump Administration, although all signs seem to be pointing in that direction.
