On Monday, President Trump hosted the first meeting of his full Cabinet. He’s met with his Cabinet before, but all of the positions in it weren’t filled yet at the time.
Monday’s Cabinet meeting was bizarre to say the least.
Officials around the room heaped lavish, dictatorship-esque praise on the President like he’s some sort of Supreme Leader or something.
Chief of Staff Reince Priebus led off the meeting by saying:
‘On behalf of the entire senior staff around you, Mr. President, we thank you for the opportunity and the blessing that you’ve given us to serve your agenda and the American people and we’re going to continue to work very hard every day to accomplish those goals.’
Those remarks are, quite frankly, quite bizarre. Just look at the preeminence that Priebus gives to expressing how “blessed” he is to serve the president’s “agenda.” Like seriously — he couldn’t have even mentioned how much he wanted to make America great again or whatever first? Then it would have at least seemed like the point of Priebus’s job was to better America and not to cultivate Trump’s ego.
