Really, Donald Jr.? You think that we’re all just going to take you at your word that the whole Russia scandal is “nonsense” and move on? You do realize that your views are just that, views, and not facts, right?
On Thursday morning, fired FBI Director James Comey appeared before the Senate Intelligence Committee to testify about his take on the investigation into Russia’s meddling in the 2016 election and whether or not anyone involved with the Trump team had any part in that.
During this testimony, Comey established that yes, Russia did interfere in the 2016 election and yes, Trump associates are under investigation for their ties to Russia, but no, that investigation doesn’t include Trump personally. The only thing that includes Trump personally is the fallout over the comments that he himself made to Comey in an effort to try and get the FBI to drop its investigation into disgraced, fired National Security Adviser Michael Flynn.
With little regard to the overarching scope of Comey’s Thursday testimony, Trump Jr. appointed himself judge and jury when it comes to the Russia scandal and tried to declare the whole thing irrelevant and all but over with in a post-Comey hearing tweet.
He wrote, “10 months of nonsense whose only apparent goal was to take down
#POTUS & stop him from doing what he was elected to do. Time to get to work!”
Oh shut up.
Twitter piled on, and you can see the best responses to Trump Jr.’s tweet below.
