GOP Speaker of the House Paul Ryan wants you to think that he’s a man of the people, or something. (Hint: he’s not.)
At least, such is the easily discernible implication from a Twitter post that Ryan’s official account put up this week. The post highlights a feature on the Speaker’s website that tells the story of “the best photos from May.”
Caleb Smith and Paige Waltz, writing on the Speaker’s website, say:
‘What you see on the front pages of newspapers or hear on the nightly news is not always the full story. A lot of what goes on inside the Capitol is actually politics-free.’
The story goes on to feature seven photos, with contexts ranging from photo ops to… other photo ops.
The important thing to remember here is that propaganda isn’t something confined to places outside of the United States.
Paul Ryan would like to pretend as though he’s a man of the people, but, most notably, he has helped the American Health Care Act through Congress. If the AHCA passes, it stands to strip tens of millions of Americans of their health coverage in a bid to save money for insurance companies.
