On Thursday, President Trump announced his administration’s intent to withdraw from the Paris Climate Accord, even though to do so sets the country against literally every other country on the planet outside of Syria.
Nicaragua is the only other country besides Syria to have not signed onto the deal, but it’s because they want a stricter agreement. President Trump, on the other hand, wants a deal that’s “better for American businesses,” even if that means sacrificing progress forward on stopping climate change.
Unsurprisingly, Trump garnered a significant bit of support from the core of his base, meaning people like Mike Pence and Trump’s son Eric.
Surely to cast it in light of the President’s decision to withdraw from the Paris Accord, Eric Trump highlighted a Thursday news story on his Twitter account stating that the stock market had just closed at a record high.
Eric captioned the story simply, adding the hashtag, “Make America Great Again.”
As some sort of demented, childish form of approval seeking behavior, the President himself retweeted this early Friday, and unsurprisingly, the comments calling out the Trumps for cackling about a stock market bump while pulling out of efforts to keep the planet from destruction poured in.
For what it’s worth, the presently underway economic growth began under Obama.
