Paul Ryan Gets Taken Down Hard On Twitter For Claiming Producing More Carbon Emissions Is Okay

These guys really get something out of this stumping for corporate thuggery, don’t they.

Among a number of other national Republican leaders to do the same, GOP Speaker of the House Paul Ryan took to Twitter on Thursday to express support for President Trump’s announced plans to withdraw from the Paris Climate Accord.

Trump announced these plans in the face of the unsurprising global backlash. The Paris climate accord dictates that countries which have signed onto it work together to keep average global temperatures from rising 2 degrees Celsius above those prior to the Industrial Revolution.

If there’s no planet, there isn’t going to be anywhere for the Republicans to put their beloved businesses. The arguments against the Paris climate deal are at their core similarly shallow to those that the Trump Administration has raised against welfare programs such as Meals on Wheels and free lunches to poor schoolchildren.

Sure, these Republican decisions might look good on paper, but they make no human sense.

No matter the backlash, however, Speaker Ryan’s official account posted a series of tweets on Thursday expressing support for Trump’s decision regarding the Paris deal.

It’s worth noting that Ryan initially refused to support Donald Trump, but as time went on, he refused to let concerns of decency get in the way of protecting his political career.

His tweets in support of Trump’s decision are below.
