Vice President Mike Pence gave the commencement address at the Catholic Notre Dame University this weekend, but he faced — rather unsurprisingly — some among the graduating student body who dissented from his radical viewpoints.
Right as he began to speak, dozens upon dozens of students got up and walked out, showing anyone who would pay attention that there are still plenty of people in the U.S. who have no interest in the strictly right agenda of Mike Pence and his type.
Check out a video of the walkout protest below. There’s a student in the video who is sporting a LGBT+ pride flag over their shoulders.
Pence, in his remarks following the student walkout, decried the supposed over-reliance on “safe spaces” on college campuses these days, but the walkout protest staged against him wasn’t a protest against free speech.
Rather, it was a protest against Mike Pence’s long record of hate speech against LGBT+ people and anyone else who doesn’t fit his mold. He literally sought to make discrimination legal while Governor of Indiana, so long as the discrimination was carried out in the name of religion.
