Paul Ryan Gets Ripped To Shreds For Nastily Hypocritical National Teachers Day Tweet

The ever spineless Republican Speaker of the House Paul Ryan posted a tweet that was supposed to be in honor of National Teacher’s Day on Tuesday.

The tweet features a photo of Ryan with Wisconsin’s Teacher of the Year, who the photo caption identifies as Chris Gleason.

Ryan’s tweet says: “On #NationalTeachersDay, want to recognize Wisconsin Teacher of the Year Chris Gleason & all of our country’s teachers for the work they do.”

Here’s the thing, however.

For it to be suggested that Ryan actually, in practice, gives a damn about teachers is absolutely ludicrous.

Paul Ryan is a leader in the Party that nominated the infamously inept Betsy DeVos to the position of U.S. Secretary of Education, among many, many other things that his party has done that are detrimental to the cause of education.

Has Ryan spoken up against the proposed education funding cuts from his boss’s administration? No he has not.

Has he spoken out about the need to encourage and promote, not defund, scientific research dedicated to the cause of stopping climate change? No he has not.

Has he stood up for the important role of proper sex education in bringing up children through these schools that he’s supposedly so fond of? No he has not, even though there is a major national organization — Planned Parenthood — that provides millions of people with sex education. Ryan has proposed stripping Planned Parenthood of funding.

Thus, with all of these points in mind, Ryan is in no position at all to pretend to support America’s schools. Twitter promptly reminded him of this.

Check out some of the best replies to his tweet below.
