Geez, Pence, how delusional can you get?
The former Governor of Indiana, part time Vice President and full time bigot hosted a Cinco de Mayo observance on Thursday, and the burns he received on Twitter for his stunningly distant remarks can be felt by pretty much everyone around. The cringe is real.
See, Pence, obviously, is the second in command to the guy who literally built his campaign on promises to address the “problems” of Mexican immigrants to the United States allegedly “stealing” jobs and negatively affecting the social fabric of the U.S. in other ways.
That, of course, is all a bunch of bullcrap, but it’s not as though Pence has distanced himself from that rhetoric in any way at all.
Thus, when Pence got up for Cinco de Mayo and started rattling off about the importance of Hispanic and Mexican Americans to the United States, could he really have thought that his remarks would be received well?
Part of his remarks, as posted to Twitter, read: “Economically, culturally, in our churches, towns & cities across our country, Mexican-Americans & Hispanic-Americans are making a difference.”
Twitter, however — along with the rest of us — wasn’t having it.
Check out some of the best replies to Pence’s remarkably hollow remarks below.
