POLITICO is reporting that Trump’s incessant tweeting is one of the ways that he’s making big problems for the Secret Service agents who are tasked to protect him.
Quite simply, the tweeting makes the President vulnerable to people who would seize on the easily perceptible accessibility to Trump given by his personal Twitter account. Since he’s on Twitter all the time, people who are also on Twitter have taken the opportunity to voice threats against him. They’ve met him where he’s at, so to speak.
Meanwhile, however, this has created a massive headache for the Secret Service, as they’ve been tasked with trying to figure out what, if any, of the Twitter threats they should take seriously.
Dan Bongino, a former protective detail agent for presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama, told POLITICO: “The Twitter thing is creating a lot of hassles. It’s generated a tidal wave of threats that the Secret Service can’t ignore.”
Obviously, however, most to all of these threats might come from nothing more than idiots sitting at home with too much time on their hands.
